The Heritage dolls on show

Betty Virago is a website where people of woolly crafts and doll making come together.

Our heritage dolls are made using locally sourced, natural materials. They remind us of a world of the by-gone age, but a world not too far in the past.

The basic doll is made using the My Little Crochet Doll pattern available in our Ravelry and Etsy online shops.

Our knitting doll is based upon the stories of the terrible knitters of Dent in the Yorkshire Dales. She is in the process of knitting her second glove (she uses five double pointed needles in size 1.2mm).

The clogmaker works at Walkleys clog shop in Mythramoyd, He’s wearing his own hand carved clog boots, while working on another clog for a customer.

Fisherman 0801

William, our Fisherman, comes from Scarborough. He sometimes is seen at the Scarborough maritime heritage centre sporting his traditional gansey and cable hat.

Our coal miner loves visiting the National Coal mining museum, he’s git his own working lamp and loves having showing the visitors around the mine.
